Before the second phase of voting, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a huge road show in North Kolkata on Sunday. During this time, a large crowd of people is gathering on both sides of the road. Before the start of the road show, PM Modi offered prayers at the ancient Siddha Shaktipeeth Thanthaniya Kalibari Temple located in Vidhan Sarani, Kolkata. PM Modi took blessings of Maa Kali in the temple.

The priests blessed PM Modi with chanting of mantras. During this, Prime Minister Modi remained silent for some time and prayed. After this, after talking to the priests, he left for the road show. As soon as PM Modi’s special vehicle hit the streets, the entire area echoed with the sounds of Jai Shri Ram and conch shells. The road show started from BK Pal Avenue till Khanna Crossing. Thousands of people were standing on both sides of the roads throughout the route. Women and elderly people were showering flowers on the Prime Minister from rooftops and balconies.

History of Thanthaniya Kalibari Temple

Thanthaniya Kalibari is one of the oldest and most revered Kali temples in Kolkata. It was established in 1703; Its 300-year-old history predates the formal development of the city. Mother Kali is worshiped as ‘Maa Siddheshwari’, and the presiding deity here is considered ‘Jagrut’.

It is said that Ramakrishna Paramahansa often used to come to this temple and sing hymns of Maa Siddheshwari. Inside the temple, the ‘vaani’ he said is engraved on the walls, which reads: ‘Shankarer Hridoy Majhe, Kali Biraje’ (Mother Kali resides in the heart of Shankar).
