Khal Nayak On OTT: Where To Watch Sanjay Dutt As Ballu Ahead Of Khalnayak Returns

Sanjay Dutt recently surprised everyone with the official announcement of Khalnayak Returns. The actor is returning as the iconic villain, Ballu, in the sequel to his 1993 film Khal Nayak. On April 24, Sanjay and his wife, Maanayata Dutt, were present at an event, where the film’s first look and teaser were unveiled. At the event, Maanayata broke down while her husband revealed where he got the idea of working on  . Before the sequel arrives in cinemas, you can revisit the Subhash Ghai directorial on streaming. The movie, co-starring Jackie Shroff and Madhuri Dixit, is available on three platforms.

Written and directed by Subhash Ghai,  was theatrically released on August 6, 1993. Featuring Sanjay, Madhuri, Jackie, Anupam Kher and Rakhee Gulzar, the action crime film was the second-highest grossing movie in that year. If you missed watching it on the big screen, fret not! For the unversed, the film follows the story of two police officers Ram and Ganga, who attempt to apprehend criminal Ballu. In this movie, Madhuri essayed the character of Sub-Inspector Ganga and Jackie was seen as Inspector Ram. As for Anupam Kher, the actor portrayed the character of Ishwar, and Rakhee Gulzar played Ballu’s mother Aarti Prasad.

Sanjay Dutt on how he got idea to make Khalnayak Returns

At the Khalnayak Returns event, Sanjay revealed he got the idea of Khal Nayak’s sequel while he was in jail in connection to the 1993 Mumbai blast case. Recalling his time in prison, the actor revealed he asked everyone around him who was interested in watching Khal Nayak’s sequel. Around 4,000 inmates expressed that they would watch it. Later, Dutt asked all of them to write one page each about the second part, and he read them. After coming out on parole, the actor asked Subhash Ghai to go through it, following which he said the sequel should be made.

Apart from that, Sanjay shared that the journey of Khalnayak Returns had been long and it wouldn’t have been possible without the director. Calling him a legend and man of entertainment, the actor added that Ghai will be a part of Khalnayak Returns. Are you excited to watch it?
