Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Jayanti 2026: CM Yogi Adityanath paid tribute to former Chief Minister Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna on his birth anniversary. Recalling his freedom struggle, political contribution and development vision, he described him as an inspiration for the new generation.

Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Jayanti: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath paid respectful tribute to former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, late Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna, on the occasion of his birth anniversary. On this occasion, he offered floral tributes to his statue located at Yojana Bhawan and remembered his contribution. The Chief Minister said that Bahuguna ji was a strong and influential pillar of Indian politics, whose services are inspiring even today.

Early life and education of Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna

The Chief Minister said that Bahuguna ji was born on 25 April 1919 in Pauri Garhwal district of the then Uttar Pradesh (now Uttarakhand). He received his primary education in the village itself and reached Prayagraj for further studies. Leadership abilities were visible in him right from his student days.

Active role in freedom movement

Yogi Adityanath said that between 1942 and 1946, Bahuguna ji took an active part in the ‘Quit India Movement’ on the call of Mahatma Gandhi. During this period, his role was so important that the British government even put him in jail. His struggle for the independence of the country was commendable.

Contribution to politics and services as Chief Minister

The Chief Minister said that in the first general elections of 1952, Bahuguna ji was elected a member of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly for the first time. After this he held many important responsibilities as a minister in the state government. Later he became the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and contributed significantly to the development of the state. He also served in many ministries in the Central Government.

Yogi Adityanath said that Bahuguna ji’s development vision is relevant even today. The impact of the work done by him can be seen even today. His public life and service to the country is a source of inspiration for the present generation. Many dignitaries including Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, Mayor Sushma Kharkwal, MLA Neeraj Bora, Amresh Kumar, Legislative Council member Lalji Prasad Nirmal and Ramchandra Pradhan were present in this program.
