The man, 55-year-old Madhu from Kadappuram Azhimukham, was driving on the Kunnamkulam-Vadakkanchery road at around 10 in the morning. This incident has left locals and even health workers completely stunned. To make things clear, Madhu was inside his car, but he was driving with the windows down and the AC off since it was still the morning.

Here’s what happened

During the drive, he felt a slight burning sensation on his body but didn’t think much of it. However, after reaching home, he checked and found red blisters had formed on his chest. He immediately rushed to a hospital in Anchangadi for treatment. After a check-up, doctors confirmed it was sunburn. They treated him with ice cubes and a special lotion. Since the injuries weren’t serious, they advised him to rest and sent him home. Following this, the health department has warned everyone to be extremely careful when stepping out in this scorching heat.

And this isn’t a one-off case. There are reports of an 8-year-old boy from Malappuram’s Chemmad also getting sunburns. The boy, Afnan from Tirurangadi, got burns on his hand and sought treatment at the Tirurangadi Taluk Hospital. In another case, a man named Koolath Vasu from Chalissery Perumannur got sunburned while standing in his own house yard at 4 in the evening.
