Karnataka is likely to witness widespread rain, thunderstorms, and gusty winds on May 30 as active pre-monsoon conditions persist across the state. Bengaluru and several interior districts are expected to receive showers.

Karnataka is set to experience another day of unsettled weather on May 30, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting rain and thunderstorms across several regions of the state. Active pre-monsoon conditions are expected to bring showers to Bengaluru and many interior districts, providing relief from recent warm and humid conditions. Weather officials have also warned of gusty winds accompanying thunderstorms in several areas.

Rain Activity To Continue Across Interior Karnataka

According to the IMD, light to moderate rain and thundershowers are likely over many districts in South Interior Karnataka, including Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural, Mysuru, Mandya, Hassan, Kodagu, Ramanagara, Kolar, Chikkaballapura, Tumakuru, Chikkamagaluru, Shivamogga and Davanagere. Wind speeds may reach 40-50 kmph during thunderstorms, raising the possibility of temporary disruptions in some areas.

North Interior Karnataka is also expected to receive light to moderate rainfall in districts such as Haveri, Gadag, Koppal, Dharwad and Raichur. While rainfall may not be widespread across the entire region, isolated thunderstorms and strong winds are likely to occur.

Bengaluru And Coastal Areas Under Watch

Bengaluru is likely to witness cloudy skies, intermittent rain and thunderstorm activity through the day. The recent spell of rainfall has already brought down temperatures in the city, and similar weather conditions are expected to continue. Coastal Karnataka districts, including Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada, are also likely to receive light to moderate rain.

Wet Weather To Persist

Meteorologists attribute the ongoing weather activity to strengthening pre-monsoon conditions ahead of the southwest monsoon’s advance. Rainfall and thunderstorms are expected to continue over several parts of Karnataka during the next few days, keeping temperatures relatively moderate. Residents have been advised to stay updated with local weather alerts and exercise caution during thunderstorms and strong wind activity.’
