Rules of Jitiya fast
Jitiya 2025: Jitia fast is celebrated for three days, which is mainly celebrated with great reverence in some places in Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh and Bengal. On 13 September, Jitiya started from Nahai-Khay. At the same time, Jitiya’s Nirjala fast will be observed on 14 September. Apart from this, Jitiya Vrat will be passed on 15 September. Jitiya Vrat 2025
The second day of Jitiya fast i.e. Ashtami Tithi is called Othgan, which is on 14 September. On this day, before sunrise i.e. in Brahma Muhurta, Jitiya Othgan will remain. During this time, fasting women can accept bangles, curd, water, coconut water etc. After taking this food, water is taken by resting your body through the door. After this, the next day is passed and water is drunk.
When is the auspicious time of Jitiya fast?
- Sunrise:- At 6:05 am in the morning.
- Brahma Muhurta:- 4:33 am to 5:19 minutes in the morning.
- Syahan Sandhya:- 6:27 to 7:37 minutes in the evening.
What to do during Jitiya fast?
Bathing and eating – The first day of the fast is ‘Nahai-Khay’. On this day, mothers take bath before sunrise and eat satvik food. Maruwa bread and Noni greens are eaten in food.
Nirjala fast – The main day of the fast is called ‘Khur-Jitiya’. This fast is kept completely dehydrated. This fast starts from sunrise till the next day after sunrise.
Evening worship – On the second day of the fast, in the evening, women worship Lord Jemutavahana and listen to the fast story.
Tarpan – During the fast, there is a law of worship of Jemutavahana made by Kush. Some women also offer tarpan in a river or pond to offer Jemutavahana.
Paran – Jitiya fast is passed on the third day. There is a tradition of eating shrimp fish and madua bread at the time of passion. It is said that it gives full fruits of fast.
Donation – After the completion of Jitiya fast, food and clothes are donated to the needy.
What should not be done in Jitia fast?
Consumption of food-water:- On the second day of the fast, food and water are sacrificed. Do not drink even a drop of water on this day.
Tamasic food:- During Jitiya fast, do not consume tamasic food, only tamasic food should be made in the house.
Away from negativity:- During this time of Jitiya fast, one should avoid fighting and negative thoughts.
Unknowingly mistake:- If you eat something by mistake in Jitiya fast, then immediately apologize to the mother and take a pledge to do the fast next year.
Do not insult:- During this fast, no person, elderly and children should be insulted at all.
What are the rules of Jitiya fast for women
In the rules of Jitiya Vrat, some special precautions are taken from Nahai-Khay to Nirjala fasting, worship method and passion. In this fast, satvic food is taken on the next day. Then food and water are not taken on the day of fasting. In the evening, a statue of Jemutavahana, eagle and jackal is worshiped. The next day, by offering arghya to the Sun and listening to the fast story, the fast is observed in the auspicious time. Fasting women should not sleep on the bed and should avoid saying abusive words or evil.
