Raghav Chadha union minister BJP: There was a big political explosion in the politics of Delhi and Punjab on Friday, when prominent leader of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Rajya Sabha MP from Punjab Raghav Chadha announced to leave the party and join Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Along with him, Ashok Mittal and Sandeep Pathak also announced their merger with BJP, which has intensified the stir within AAP.
AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal’s first reaction to this entire incident has also come out. Kejriwal replied in one line on social media platform “BJP again made a push with Punjabis” That is, “BJP has once again betrayed the Punjabis.” This statement clearly indicates that the AAP leadership is considering this development not just as defection but as a big betrayal related to the politics of Punjab.

Raghav Chadha said, I was the right man in the wrong party
According to NDTV report, Raghav Chadha said in the press conference that he gave 15 years of his life to AAP, but now the party has moved away from honest politics. He said, “The AAP to which I gave 15 years has now moved away from honest politics. I was the right man in the wrong party. Now I am moving away from the party and getting closer to the people. Today’s AAP has become corrupt and compromised.” Raghav Chadha also said that more than two-thirds of the party’s MPs in Rajya Sabha are in favor of merger with BJP and its process has been completed.
Claim of 7 MPs joining BJP
Raghav Chadha claimed that out of total 10 Rajya Sabha MPs of AAP, 7 are going to join BJP. He said that all the necessary documents have been signed and sent to the Rajya Sabha. These names are said to include names like Ashok Mittal, Sandeep Pathak, Swati Maliwal, Harbhajan Singh, Vikramjit Singh Sahni, Balbir Singh Seechewal and Sanjeev Arora. If this claim proves true, it will be the biggest political blow for AAP in Rajya Sabha.
Sources claim, Raghav Chadha can become Union Minister
According to NDTV report, sources say that after joining BJP, Raghav Chadha can also be given a ministerial post in the central government. If this happens, it will be considered not just a defection but a major strategic change in national politics.
Sanjay Singh said attack
AAP MP Sanjay Singh reacted sharply to this decision of Raghav Chadha. He said that he left the same party which gave him recognition and sent him to Rajya Sabha and joined BJP. Sanjay Singh termed it as political opportunism and said that it is against the principles of AAP.
Cracks had started appearing earlier also
Indications of differences within the party were already visible. On April 2, Arvind Kejriwal removed Raghav Chadha from the post of deputy leader of the party in Rajya Sabha and gave this responsibility to Ashok Mittal. Sources had then told NDTV that the party wanted to “silence” Raghav Chadha. After this the distance between the two groups became more clear. Political analysts believe that this is not just personal resentment, but a sign of deep dissatisfaction within AAP.
Big shock before Punjab elections
This entire incident has happened at a time when Punjab Assembly elections are to be held next year. The AAP government will go before the public for the second time under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. Raghav Chadha has been considered an important face of AAP’s victory in Punjab. In such a situation, his leaving the party can have a direct impact on the electoral equations.
