Heatwave grips Andhra Pradesh; temperature hits 45°C

Amaravati: Hot, humid and discomfort conditions are likely in parts of Coastal AP, Yanam and Rayalaseema over the next three days, IMD Amaravati said.

AP State Disaster Management Authority MD Prakhar Jain said that the heat wave will continue in the state. He said that temperatures above 41 degrees were recorded in 207 mandals on Friday. On Saturday, severe heatwave is expected in 14 mandals and another 28 mandals are likely to experience heatwave. He said that maximum temperatures are likely to be recorded in North Andhra and Rayalaseema districts. People are advised to take adequate precautions against intense sun and heat.

Meanwhile, Parvathipuram Manyam district recorded the highest temperature of 45°C followed by Kurnool (43.7°C), Nandyal (43.6°C), Anantapur (43.5°C), Vizianagaram, (43.4°C), YSR Kadapa (43.4°C) over the last 24 hours.

Yesterday’s trough, wind discontinuity from east Vidarbha to Comorin area across Telangana, Interior Karnataka and Tamilnadu at 0.9 km above mean sea level persists. Lower tropospheric southerly, south westerly winds prevail over AP and Yanam.
