Vijay Kedia-backed Patel Engineering bags Rs 1,593.08 cr project: Stock in focus

New Delhi: Patel Engineering, an infrastructure company, has sealed a big project in Nepal. The company bagged a hydro-electric project contract in the Sankhuwasabha District of Nepal, valued at Rs 1,593.08 crore. Notably, ace Stock Market investor Vijay Kedia holds a stake in the company. The stock is currently trading over 100 per cent below its all-time high.

Vijay Kedia has 1.01 per cent stake in Patel Engineering as he holds 10,025,099 shares. Patel Engineering share price dropped 2 per cent to Rs 27.87 apiece (12 noon) on Friday.

Patel Engineering’s Rs 1,593.08 cr project in Nepal

The company was declared lowest has been declared lowest Bidder for a Rs 1,593.08 crore contract for Package 2 of the 669 MW Lower Arun Hydropower Project in Nepal by SJVN Lower Arun Power Development Company (P) Ltd.

The project is scheduled to be completed within 54 months and the site is strategically located near Tumlingtar in Sankhuwasabha District of Nepal, approximately 264 km from Siliguri, India.

“We began Q1 FY27 on a positive note, having been declared L1 for this important order of approximately Rs 1,600 crore. Nepal holds immense hydroelectric potential, and the Lower Arun project is a significant step toward harnessing that energy for sustainable growth,” Kavita Shirvairkar, Managing Director, Patel Engineering, said.

Mumbai-based Patel Engineering is a major player in the hydropower, tunnelling, and irrigation sectors. In March 2026, the company got a Rs 230 crore project from Bhutan-based Dorjlung Hydro Power Ltd. The Package I of the project includes pre-construction works of the 1,125 MW Dorjilung Hydroelectric Power Project in Bhutan.

Patel Engineering Ltd. (‘PEL’ or ‘Company’), is a 77-year company established in the year 1949 and has a strong presence in hydropower, tunnelling and irrigation segments. The company has completed over 85 dams, 40 hydroelectric projects and more than 300 km of tunnelling for clients which are mostly central PSUs or state government organizations.
