Sanju Samson vs Hardik Pandya: The 33rd match of IPL 2026 between Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings is being played at Wankhede Stadium. In this match, Chennai Super Kings batted first after losing the toss and made a stormy start in the powerplay itself. The opening pair Ruturaj Gaikwad and Sanju Samson thrashed the Mumbai Indians bowlers. Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya proved to be very expensive in the powerplay. He bowled two overs in the powerplay and spent 19-19 runs in both the overs. Overall, they scored 38 runs in two overs without taking any wicket, which spoiled their economy a lot.

Hardik bowled the second over of the innings. Rituraj Gaikwad demonstrated aggressive batting in this over. He scored 19 runs from the over by hitting two fours and a six. Despite this bad over by Hardik, the Mumbai Indians captain decided to bowl one more over in the powerplay, but this decision proved costly for him.
Hardik Pandya also bowled the fourth over of Chennai Super Kings’ innings. At the beginning of this over, he bowled two consecutive dot balls, which made it seem that he has got into the rhythm. But after this Sanju Samson took him to task. Sanju hit 4 consecutive boundaries, which included three fours and a six. There was also a wide ball in the over, due to which this over also became 19 runs. In this way, the first two overs of Hardik Pandya completely became a victim of the aggressive batting of Sanju Samson and Ruturaj Gaikwad. In the powerplay itself, Chennai Super Kings scored runs at a high run rate and put pressure on Mumbai Indians.

Ruturaj Gaikwad flops again
Rituraj Gaikwad is struggling with poor form this season. But he managed to get a good start in this match. He scored 22 runs in 14 balls with the help of 3 fours and 1 six. However, he could not convert this start into a big score. This is only the second time this season when Ruturaj Gaikwad crossed the 20-run mark.
