During the big game against the Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Wankhede stadium, Samson struck unbeaten 101 off 54 balls to take CSK to 207/6 in the first innings.

By virtue of the sensational hundred, Samson joined Rohit Sharma in an elite list of Indian players with most centuries in T20 cricket.
