Delhi High Court has granted bail to the accused of robbing Rs 600 and mobile phone at gunpoint from a Rapido driver. Accused Farid Kaha was in custody for more than a year. The court gave this decision considering the period of custody and his satisfactory conduct in jail.

New Delhi [भारत]July 20 (ANI): The Delhi High Court on Monday granted bail to a passenger accused of robbing a Rapido driver of Rs 600 and a mobile phone at gunpoint. The accused was in custody for more than a year. According to the FIR dated June 4, 2025, which was lodged at Timar Pur police station, accused Farid Kaha alias Javed booked a Rapido ride and robbed the driver by showing him a country-made pistol.

Justice Manoj Jain granted bail to Farid Kaha, finding the period of custody and his conduct in jail satisfactory. “The applicant is directed to be released on a personal bond of Rs 25,000 and one local surety of like amount, subject to the satisfaction of the trial court concerned,” Justice Jain ordered on July 20.

What is the whole matter?

As per the prosecution case, a complaint was received on June 4, 2025 and the complainant, who is a Rapido driver, stated that two days earlier, he had taken a booking and the passenger threatened him by pulling out a katta and robbed him of Rs 600 in cash and his mobile phone. He also threatened to transfer more money through online transfer.

The State Additional Public Prosecutor (APP), on instructions received from the investigating officer, said that the statement of the concerned complainant has already been recorded by the court.

The court granted bail on these conditions

While granting bail to Farid, the High Court directed him to furnish local surety; He shall not try to contact any witness directly or indirectly; He will give the concerned investigating officer a mobile number on which he can be contacted, if necessary. Such number will remain operational and functional. The High Court ordered that the residential address of the applicant and the proposed surety be verified before releasing him on bail. (ANI)
