BMW F 450 GS India Launch Tomorrow – Everything You Need To Know

The BMW F 450 GS is set to launch in India tomorrow with pre-bookings already open at dealerships ahead of the official price announcement.

This matters because it brings a new mid-capacity adventure bike into a segment currently dominated by models like the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 and KTM 390 Adventure. Scheduled for April 23, 2026, the F 450 GS will be locally manufactured via partnership with TVS Motor Company. The adventure bike is expected to be priced in the Rs 4-5 lakh range, which will make it the most accessible GS model in BMW’s lineup.

Engine, Power And Core Specs

The  F 450 GS is powered by a new 420cc parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine producing around 48 hp and 43 Nm of peak torque. It is paired with a six-speed gearbox and higher variants are expected to include a quickshifter.

The motorcycle weighs around 178 kg and uses a lightweight chassis to improve agility both on and off-road. The seat height stands at 845 mm as standard, with options to lower or raise it depending on rider preference.
Fuel tank capacity is around 14 litres, which, when combined with efficient engine tuning, is expected to deliver a usable range suited for touring.

Features, Hardware And Variants

BMW will offer the F 450 GS in multiple variants such as Basic, Exclusive, Sport and GS Trophy. The feature list varies across trims, but core elements include ride modes like Rain, Road and Enduro along with traction control and cornering ABS.

Higher variants add features such as Enduro Pro mode, adjustable suspension and additional off-road-focused hardware. The bike also gets a 6.5-inch TFT display with smartphone connectivity, navigation, call alerts as well as music controls.

In terms of hardware, the motorcycle uses upside-down front forks and a rear monoshock along with 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels. Braking is handled by a 310 mm front disc and a 240 mm rear disc with dual-channel ABS.
Price Expectation And Segment Impact

The BMW F 450 GS is expected to be priced between Rs 4 lakh and Rs 5 lakh (ex-showroom). This will place it directly against established mid-capacity adventure bikes.

For buyers, the key shift is access. This is the first time the GS lineup is entering a more affordable bracket in India. The combination of a twin-cylinder engine, off-road hardware and electronics package makes it a different proposition compared to single-cylinder rivals.

In practical terms, the decision will come down to pricing, service costs and how the bike performs in real-world conditions after launch. What stands out is the intent. BMW is expanding its GS range into a segment where price and usability matter as much as brand positioning.
