A Reddit post on rented houses in Gurugram is viral, criticizing the ₹50-60 thousand rent for a 1BHK. The post raises questions over charging high rent for ordinary houses by labeling them as “ultra-luxury”.
A post describing the reality of rented houses in Gurugram has gone viral on social media. A Reddit user has questioned the price of a one-bedroom flat, which has reached Rs 50,000 to Rs 60,000 in some areas. The post titled “Gurgaon rentals have officially lost the plot” has sparked a new debate on how ordinary homes are being presented with the tag of “luxury”.
The user mentioned a new property listing. He wrote, “Just saw a listing describing a 1BHK in Sector 43 as “ultra-luxury”… I had to double-check that I didn’t accidentally open a prank page.” Users criticized the branding, saying it was just a simple modular kitchen in the name of “luxury interiors”. At the same time, the “big balcony” is also the same which the builder provides in every flat.
Writing about air conditioning, he said that it is not a feature, it is a necessity to survive in Gurugram. And being “park facing” is fine, but it should not increase the rent by Rs 20,000.

The user further wrote, “At this point, homeowners are just adding adjectives to their resumes: ultra, premium, luxury, exclusive, elite. When in reality, it’s the same layout, same tiles and same ceiling lights that you’ll find in half the houses in the city.”
How did social media react?
This post got a lot of attention and many people agreed with it. One user wrote, “Gurugram’s rental market is already showing signs of a bubble. Asking such high rents for this type of property is unrealistic.”
Another user asked, “I wasn’t paying that much rent even for a nice one bedroom flat in VILE PARLE. The broker is actually just hoping to negotiate by quoting a higher price because no one will really pay for it. Right?”
“Brokers/land mafia are trying their best to artificially inflate property market prices,” said a third user.
