Now this problem may soon become a thing of the past. The state government has started work on a scheme which will not only provide relief to the workers but will also give a new impetus to the economic pace of the cities.
Special housing will be built for workers in industrial areas
The government has taken a big decision to implement the affordable rental housing policy under the Industrial Development Department. Under this policy, special houses will be built for workers on 30 percent land in industrial areas. Its direct benefit will be that workers will get the facility to stay near their workplace, which will save both time and expense.
In the high level meeting held at the government level, officials of Housing, Industrial Development, Urban Development and Town and Country Planning departments have agreed to this proposal. Now private developers will also be associated with the Development Authority, Housing Development Council and Industrial Development Department to implement this scheme.

Private builders will get exemption, structure will be built faster
Private builders will also be given incentives to get the scheme off the ground quickly. They will be given exemption in land use change, map approval and development fees. With this, it is expected that more number of labor houses can be constructed in less time.
Fare will be available only for Rs 1000 to 1500
According to sources, the monthly rent of these houses will be kept between Rs 1000 to Rs 1500. At present, in cities like Lucknow, Noida, Kanpur, the rent of a small room has reached Rs 4000 to Rs 5000. In such a situation, this scheme will prove to be a big relief for low income workers, street vendors, painters, plumbers, electricians and other workers.
Houses will not remain vacant, needy will get immediate accommodation
The special thing about this scheme is that the allocation of houses will be done in a dynamic manner. That means as soon as a worker leaves the city, his house will immediately be given to another needy person. This will ensure better utilization of houses and there will be no problem of vacant houses.
This initiative is an extension of the Affordable Rental Housing (ARH) policy of the Central Government, which has already been approved under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. Now linking it with the Industrial Development Department will increase both the scope and impact of the scheme.
