Prior to Bihar Assembly Elections 2025, the Congress has challenged Tejashwi Yadav by forwarding Pappu Yadav and Kanhaiya Kumar to strengthen its hold in Seemanchal. There has been a stir in the grand alliance over seat sharing.
Patna: Preparations for Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 are in full swing and this time the Congress has made a special strategy to strengthen its role in the Grand Alliance. The party has created a challenge in the politics of Tejashwi Yadav by forwarding Pappu Yadav and Kanhaiya Kumar to increase its hold in Seemachal region. This step reflects the new political thinking of the Congress which is based on the popularity of MP Pappu Yadav and young leader Kanhaiya Kumar.
In the ongoing struggle over seat sharing within the Grand Alliance, the Congress is no longer under the pressure of alliance but has increased its demands. Earlier in Seemanchal, the Congress’ base was considered weak, but despite being an independent MP of Pappu Yadav, the strong support and Kanhaiya Kumar’s vigorous oratory has strengthened the party in Seemanchal.
Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ has given a new life to the political color of the Congress. Pappu and Kanhaiya played an active role in this campaign, which made the Congress felt that the party’s land in Seemanchal would be weak without them. Since then, the Congress has kept the coalition strategy with these two leaders at the center. The Congress has advised to include most of the seats of Seemanchal in its share in the seat sharing. This demand is getting stuck by Tejashwi Yadav and RJD, due to which the movement within the alliance has increased.
Political experts say that this strategy of Congress is not only for seats but also to challenge Tejashwi Yadav’s personal leadership. The increasing stature of Pappu and Kanhaiya can also change the internal equations in the grand alliance. Due to this, the fatigue of Tejashwi’s ‘Ekchahatra’ Raj is clearly visible. Although Tejashwi Yadav has strengthened his hold in Bihar politics and he is the major face of the Grand Alliance, but it is clear that the Congress wants to be strong on its own in the Grand Alliance. Pappu Yadav and Kanhaiya have been given important roles in the same strategy.
Under this new strategy, the Congress has not only demanded tickets for Seemanchal but has resolved to strengthen its base in many districts of Bihar. Congress’s Bihar in -charge Krishna Allavaru also said in the last meeting that active discussion is going on on candidates selection and seat sharing and a final decision will be taken soon. According to political experts, if the estrangement between Tejashwi Yadav and the Congress continues with a seat sharing formula, then this alliance could also suffer a huge loss in the election. At the same time, NDA is ready to take advantage of this crack.
