The struggle of central employees: 8th Pay Commission will bring rain of happiness – News Himachali News Himachali

Once again the big discussion regarding salaries and allowances for central employees has intensified. Before the implementation of the 8th Pay Commission, the government has increased the Dearness Allowance (DA) by 2 percent to 60 percent.

This decision will definitely provide some relief in the current salary of the employees, but the real eyes are now on the new pay commission, the expectations regarding which are continuously increasing.

Expectations increased regarding 8th Pay Commission

Lakhs of central government employees have been waiting for the implementation of the new pay commission for a long time. Meanwhile, employee organizations have started putting forward their demands before the government. The staff side of the National Council (NC-JCM) has proposed major changes in the pay structure.

Change in salary calculation on family basis

The biggest change that is being emphasized is related to the salary determination formula. Till now, in salary calculation, the family is considered on the basis of three units, but employee organizations say that it should be increased to five units.

According to this proposal, the family structure should include the employee, his spouse, two children and dependent parents. The purpose of this change is to ensure that salaries are determined according to actual family responsibilities.

Demand to take into account the real cost of living

Employee organizations argue that at present the cost of living has increased significantly. In such a situation, the salary structure should include not only basic needs but also education, health, housing, travel and digital needs.

The proposed model also explains the division of expenditure, in which areas like food, education, housing and social needs have been given prominent place. Along with this, there has been a demand to make technical and digital expenses also a part of salary calculation.

Employee organizations have also said that many government employees also take care of their elderly parents. Therefore, this social reality cannot be ignored in wage determination. This demand is also said to be in line with social security laws and policies, which broaden the definition of family to include dependent parents.
