Who was Adi Guru Shankaracharya?
According to religious texts, Adi Guru Shankaracharya was born in 788 AD in a Namboodiri Brahmin family in Kaladi village of Kerala. His father’s name was Shiv Guru and mother’s name was Aryamba. He is considered to be the incarnation of Lord Shiva because no ordinary person could have done the work done by him.

At the age when small children do not know how to read and write properly, at that age i.e. at the young age of 8 years, Adi Guru Shankaracharya had read all the Vedas and also memorized all these Vedas. It was not a common thing to study the Vedas at such a young age, hence people accepted them as divine powers.

Ashtavarshe Chaturvedi, Dwadshe Sarvashastravit
Shodshekritavanbhashyamdvatrinshemunirabhyagat
Meaning- Adi Guru Shankaracharya had read all four Vedas at the age of 8. At the age of 12 he studied all the scriptures. He composed Shankara Bhashya at the age of 16 and left his body at the age of 32.

The condition of Sanatan Dharma was not good at the time of Adi Guru Shankaracharya. Other religions were dominating it. Then Adi Guru Shankaracharya traveled across India thrice and established monasteries and temples. 4 monasteries of the country are also his contribution. Kedarnath and Badrinath were also reestablished by Adi Guru Shankaracharya.

Once Adi Guru Shankaracharya went to the house of a poor Brahmin to collect donations. That Brahmin did not have anything, but still he donated a dry Amla to them. Seeing the feeling of charity in his mind, Adi Guru Shankaracharya composed the Kanakadhara Stotra at that very time due to which Goddess Lakshmi was pleased and showered gold on the poor man’s house.
