New Delhi: Lucknow Super Giants, struggling to get going in IPL 2026, are set to get a major boost ahead of the high-octane clash against Mumbai Indians (MI) early next month with the confirmation of the arrival of Australian wicket-keeper batter Josh Inglis. As per a report in ESPNcricinfo, Inglis will join the LSG squad ahead of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 match against MI on May 4.
Inglis missed the first half of the 19th edition due to his wedding in mid-April. Inglis tied the knot on April 18 and after spending a fortnight with her wife and family will travel to India to join the Super Giants squad.
After a decent outing in IPL 2025, where Inglis scored 278 runs with a strike rate of 162.57 Punjab Kings released him ahead of the mini-auction. He re-entered the auction amid a massive controversy with PBKS seemingly miffed on the number of matches he told them he will not play, which they alleged was much lesser than what he later committed while registering his name in the December auction.
Despite knowing about the pre-decided unavailability, LSG bought the wicket-keeper batter for Rs 8.6 crore in the auction. It will be interesting to see how LSG accommodate Inglis when he joins the squad in the first week of May.
Inglis available for LSG’s last six games: Who will he replace?
The Aussie will be available to LSG’s last six league-stage games.
The Super Giants are playing with three overseas players – Mitchell Marsh, Aiden Markram, and Nicholas Pooran. With Pooran scoring just 51 runs in six innings at a strike rate of nearly 80, Inglis might take the spot of the West Indies powerhitter in the playing XI.
In another squad news, South Africa pacer Anrich Nortje has left the LSG camp for unspecified reasons.
Rishabh Pant-led LSG are in desperate need of revival after just two wins in six games. The Lucknow-based side slipped to eighth in the points table after losing to Punjab Kings in Mullanpur on Sunday.
