New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is set to release the Class 12 board examination results soon. Earlier this month, CBSE declared the Class 10 board exam results. Many students were awarded grace marks, and with this, the interest in knowing the grace marks among students increased.
Who gets grace marks?
A student needs a minimum of 33 per cent marks in written exams as well as in practical exams separately, along with 33 per cent in aggregate in theory and practical for each subject.
The CBSE guideline stated that if a student is narrowly missing the passing marks of 33 per cent, then the teacher is eligible to award one or two grace marks for the student to cross the passing criteria.
The grace mark was also awarded in cases like misprints on the question paper, incorrect options, or a question out of the syllabus. Furthermore, grace marks would be considered in some cases where the paper is found to be difficult or lengthy.
CBSE awards grades by placing all passed candidates in rank order. The grading distribution is listed below.
- A1: Top one-eighth of passed candidates
- A2: Next one-eighth
- B1: Next one-eighth
- B2: Next one-eighth
- C1: Next one-eighth
- C2: Next one-eighth
- D1: Next one-eighth
- D2: Next one-eighth
- E: Failed candidates
This year, a total of 18.5 lakh students appeared in the Class 12 board exam, and about 25 lakh students appeared in the Class 10 board exam. The exams were conducted in thousands of centres across the nation.
When will the Class 12 board result announce?
Looking into the past trends, the Class 12 board examination results are likely to be announced in the final week of April.
Students will be able to check their results online by using their roll number, school number, and admit card ID on the official websites of CBSE, the UMANG app, and DigiLocker.
