New Delhi: A man was detained by police for allegedly selling rotten eggs in the Bollarum area of Hyderabad on Saturday night. The eggs were being sold at a heavily discounted price.

According to reports, an unidentified man arrived in a trolley auto near Jyothi Theatre and started selling eggs at Rs 2 each, far lower than the market price of around Rs 6 per egg.

Police launches investigation

Several locals rushed to buy the cheap eggs. While some purchased the eggs, others grew suspicious and decided to check the quality. When a egg was broke open, a foul smell filled the air. It also contained a dark substance, raising concerns.

People then alerted the police and the man was taken into custody. Following the complaint the man returned the money to buyers.

Police have launched an investigation to determine the source of the eggs and whether similar incidents have occurred elsewhere. Officials have also cautioned residents to remain vigilant and avoid falling for unusually low-priced offers.

How to identify real eggs from fake one

The fake eggs are artificially manufactured using chemicals and synthetic materials to mimic the appearance and texture of real eggs.

There are many easily identifiable differences between the fake and real egg. while the shell of a real egg is usually rough and slightly grainy to the touch, fake ones is often too smooth and uniform.

Real eggs when shaken don’t produce any sound as the yolk and white are tightly enclosed, fake eggs may produce a sloshing sound.

The yolk of a real egg is round and firm and the egg white is clear and slightly runny. In fake egg the yolk may be less round and more prone to breaking.
