Maruti Fronx leads exports, Jimny demand jumps worldwide

New Delhi: India’s passenger vehicle export mix is seeing a clear shift in FY2026, with compact SUVs and small cars driving volumes across global markets. Latest data indicates that demand from regions such as Africa, Latin America, and Southeast Asia is pushing Indian manufacturers to focus on cost-effective, fuel-efficient models.

Figures compiled by AUTO PUNDITZ show that Maruti Suzuki continues to lead the export space, supported by a strong portfolio of compact vehicles. The trend reflects growing global acceptance of India-built cars in both developing and mature markets.

Fronx and Jimny top export charts in FY2026

The Maruti Suzuki Fronx has emerged as India’s most exported passenger vehicle in FY2026, recording 90,186 units, a growth of 30.5 percent year on year. The model’s positioning as a compact urban SUV has helped it gain traction in multiple export regions.

Following closely is the Maruti Suzuki Jimny, with 72,209 units exported and a growth rate of 50.5 percent. The Jimny’s global appeal as a compact off-roader has contributed to its strong performance.

Export lineup remains strong

The export momentum is not limited to SUVs. Other models have also recorded consistent volumes. The Hyundai Verna secured third position with 63,044 units, maintaining its presence in international markets.

The Nissan Magnite stands out with 56,704 units and the highest growth among the top 10 models at 94.5 percent. Meanwhile, Maruti Suzuki’s small car lineup, including the Maruti Suzuki Swift, Baleno, Dzire, and S Presso, continues to contribute significantly to export volumes.

Hyundai Motor India’s compact offerings such as the Hyundai Grand i10 and Hyundai Aura have also maintained steady demand across key markets.

Export trends point to SUV-led growth

The FY2026 data highlights a broader industry shift towards SUVs and compact vehicles. Automakers are aligning their export strategies with demand for practical, fuel-efficient, and affordable mobility solutions.

India’s role as a global export hub is expected to strengthen further as manufacturers continue to expand production and tailor products for international markets.
