The State Police Media Center has asked people to take precautions to avoid such cheating, causing people to face economic loss and slander. The Kerala Police has requested all WhatsApp users to start 2-STEP Verification immediately to avoid hacking. The police have also told about other important precautions to avoid WhatsApp hacking. The police has issued this warning in view of the increasing cases of making money by hacking WhatsApp account.
The trend of cheating by hacking the popular social media platform Whatsapp account is increasing rapidly. Many cybercrime are being done by hacking the account by hacking their misuse, stealing personal information, and making money by taking the form of people, causing people to face economic loss and slander. Thugs win their trust by calling common people or sending SMS/APK to get information like OTP and then log in to their phone or laptop. When the real owner of the account tries to use it and use it again, whatsapp does not work for 12 to 24 hours due to lack of OTP.
