Chengalpattu court has directed actor Vijay and wife Sangeeta to appear on June 15 in the divorce case. Sangeeta had filed for divorce on February 27 accusing Vijay of having an affair. He has also asked for maintenance allowance and right to live in the house.
Chennai: Actor and TVK chief Vijay and his wife Sangeeta Swarnalingam will have to appear in court in a divorce case. Chengalpattu court has directed both of them to appear on June 15. Sangeeta had filed a divorce petition against Vijay on 27 February. It has been claimed in the application that Vijay has an affair with another actress. Sangeeta says that Vijay had promised to end this relationship, but he did not keep his promise.
After this, on March 7, Sangeeta had given another application. In this he had demanded that until the divorce case is decided, he should be allowed to live in Neelankarai’s house. Sangeeta has also said in her petition that Vijay, who has assets worth crores, should give her and her children maintenance allowance, which is their right.
Sangeeta’s main allegations in the divorce petition…
1. Vijay’s wife Sangeeta has filed for divorce in Chengalpattu Family Court.
2. Sangeeta and Vijay’s marriage was registered in the UK on July 10, 1998, as Sangeeta has UK citizenship. Later on August 25, 1999, they got married as per their customs in Chennai.
3. Sangeeta alleges that Vijay is having an affair with an actress since April 2021.
4. Because of this Sangeeta suffered deep mental shock. The notice states that this is a betrayal of the trust of marriage. Vijay had promised to end the relationship with the actress, but he did not do so, which caused a lot of mental pain to Sangeeta.
5. He tried several times to resolve the issue through mutual discussion, but no solution was found. Keeping in mind the children’s education and their feelings, he postponed the matter. That’s why there was so much delay in taking legal action.
6. Vijay ignored her emotionally, mentally and physically and kept distance from married life.
7. Vijay also traveled abroad with that actress. Photos of these trips were shared on social media, causing embarrassment and deep sadness to Sangeeta and her children.
8. Sangeeta says that before going to the court, she tried several times to resolve the matter privately. He had also privately sent legal notices to Vijay through his lawyer, but when there was no option left, he approached the court.
9. Apart from divorce, Sangeeta has also sought maintenance as per Vijay’s earnings and the right to live in the house where she was living with Vijay.
10. Since big and well-known people are involved in this case, Sangeeta has also demanded to hear the case in-camera and to ban media coverage.
