According to officials, during the checking of the bags of both the foreign nationals, a ‘Garmin’ satellite phone/tracker was recovered. In India, possession or use of such satellite devices without permission is prohibited, and surveillance is even stricter, especially in sensitive areas.

An accused was identified
According to police sources, one of the detained civilians has been identified as Jeffrey Scott Prather. The process of confirming the identity of the other person is underway. Both have been handed over to the police for further action.
