It is believed that this pay commission may come into effect from January 1, 2026, due to which a major change may be seen in the salary, allowances and pension of the employees.
If this commission is implemented then lakhs of employees and about 67 lakh pensioners can get direct benefits. Let us know what big benefits the employees can get from the 8th Pay Commission.
1. Increase in basic salary due to increase in fitment factor
Fitment factor plays the most important role in Pay Commission. This is the same formula on the basis of which the new basic salary of the employees is decided. At present the fitment factor in the 7th Pay Commission was kept at 2.57. It is estimated that in the new commission it may increase to around 3.0 or more. If this happens, there may be a big increase in the basic salary of the employees.
2. There may be a record increase in minimum wage
Increase in fitment factor has a direct impact on the minimum wage. At present the minimum basic salary of central government employees is Rs 18 thousand. If the new pay commission is implemented and the fitment factor increases, then this salary can increase to around Rs 34 thousand to Rs 54 thousand. This can lead to a big improvement in the income of millions of employees.
3. Dearness allowance can be included in the basic salary
Dearness Allowance received by government employees is increased from time to time. When it reaches 50 percent or more, it is usually included in the basic pay in the new pay commission. If this happens, then along with the increase in the basic salary of the employees, other allowances will also be calculated on a higher basis, which can lead to a significant increase in the total income.
4. Expectation of increase in HRA and other allowances
There may also be changes in many allowances received by employees after the implementation of the new pay commission. These include many benefits like House Rent Allowance, Transport Allowance, Children’s Education Allowance and Risk Allowance. When the basic salary increases, the amount of these allowances also automatically increases, due to which there is a big difference in the total salary of the employees.
5. Pensioners will also get benefits
The benefits of the new pay commission will not be limited to working employees only. There may also be an increase in the pension of lakhs of central government pensioners. Along with increase in basic pension, improvements in fixed medical allowance and other facilities are also expected. This can provide considerable financial relief to retired employees.
Employees’ expectations increased
Government employees and pensioners have been waiting for the new pay commission for a long time. If this commission is implemented on time, it may lead to improvement in both their income and standard of living. There can be a big change in the salary of the employees after the implementation of the 8th Pay Commission, which will be no less than a big good news for the government employees.
