Rahul-Stubbs’s fifty, Miller’s finishing touch
Delhi’s bowlers did wonders but their start in batting was very poor. Star fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar (3/26) had put Delhi in trouble by taking 3 wickets in his first 2 overs. After losing 3 wickets for just 18 runs, KL Rahul took charge. Making his birthday special, Rahul counter-attacked and brought the team back by scoring a half-century in 30 balls. After the dismissal of Rahul (57), Tristan Stubbs (60 not out) first along with captain Akshar (26) and then David Miller took the team to victory.
In the last over, Delhi needed 15 runs to win. Only 2 runs were scored in the first 2 balls. After this, Miller scored two consecutive sixes and leveled the score. Now 1 run was needed in 2 balls and that match was remembered in which Miller (22 not out) could not score 2 runs in the last 2 balls. But this time the South African legend gave the team victory by hitting a straight four. This is Delhi’s second consecutive win against Bengaluru in Chinnaswamy. Incidentally, Rahul had scored a half-century in last year’s win also.
Delhi’s return to top-4
This is Delhi’s third win in 5 matches this season and with this the team strengthened its position in the points table. Now the team has come to fourth place with 6 points. Despite this defeat, Bengaluru is in second place with 8 points in 6 matches. Rajasthan also has only 8 points but due to better net run rate, RCB is currently above it.
