UP man partially severs neighbour’s ear with sword over suspicion of affair with his wife, taken in custody

Ghaziabad: In a shocking incident, a man reportedly attacked his neighbour in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad with a sword over suspicion of an affair with his wife. While the victim has been identified as Abhishek, the accused has been identified as Nitin, the police said.

Sharing further details, the police said that the incident took place in the Siddharth Vihar area on April 16. In the incident that was caught on camera, the accused can be seen running behind the victim before a fight with him, a report published in ‘India Today’ said.

What police find in the preliminary probe?

The preliminary findings by the police said that the accused, Nitin, suspected that his wife was having an illicit relationship with Abhishek, which resulted in repeated disputes between them earlier, too. The suspicion resulted in the attack on April 16.

The CCTV footage of the video which has gone viral on social media, shows Abhishek going past Gokuldham Society gate before stopping. Even as he seemed to be speaking with another person, Nitin can be seen approaching him and attacking from behind.

The footage then shows both trying to overpower each other. During their altercation, Abhishek can be seen holding a cover of a large sword, while Nitin continued to strike him. Abhishek can then be seen collapsing on the floor, holding his ear.

Case file against accused

In the video, a bystander can also be seen trying to stop Nitin from further attacks. After some time, Abhishek can be seen leaving on his bike. A case has been registered under Section 118(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Nitin has been taken to custody. As per the police, the CCTV footage is a is an important piece of evidence in the case. It added that all angles are being probed in the case.
