Kolkata: Heavy Rain Alert for 2 Days, Flight Operations May Be Delayed – Check Forecast, Advisory

Weather Kolkata: The city is set to experience heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms on Tuesday. The weather conditions are expected to escalate this week.

Due to this, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for the city for two days. The warning will remain in place till July 9. Apart from that, the extreme conditions may also disrupt flight operations. A popular airline, SpiceJet, on Tuesday made a similar announcement, asking passengers to keep a check on their flight status via its mobile application.

A solo weather forecast, Skymet predicted that there will be widespread rain across West Bengal. In a post on social media platform X, formerly Twitter, it said, “Weather Alert for #WesBengal Light to moderate rain may occur over Bankura, Barddhaman, Birbhum, Hooghly, Howrah, Kolkata, Murshidabad, Nadia, North 24 Parganas, Paschim Medinipur, Purba Medinipur, Puruliya, and South 24 Parganas. #Skymet#WeatherAlert#RainAlert”.

Airline’s Alert

SpiceJet also took to Twitter to inform its passengers about the affected flight schedule. It said, “#WeatherUpdate: Due to bad weather (heavy rain) in Kolkata (CCU), all departures/arrivals and their consequential flights may get affected. Passengers are requested to keep a check on their flight status via https://spicejet.com/#status.”
