Pakistan Super League 2026: Quetta Gladiators team is embroiled in a strange controversy in Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2026. In fact, on 16 April 2026, the team had announced the signing of experienced Sri Lankan wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Chandimal as a replacement for young New Zealand batsman Bevan Jacobs. Jacobs has been selected in New Zealand’s T20 team, which is on Bangladesh tour starting from April 27. But a different scene was seen in the match played on 17 April.
Rules flouted in PSL
In fact, in the match against Lahore Qalandars on April 17, Quetta Gladiators captain Saud Shakeel announced a surprising playing eleven, which included Bevan Jacobs and Dinesh Chandimal together. This caused a lot of confusion among the cricket fans as to how both the replacement and the player being replaced can be played in the same match. According to the rules, Bevan Jacobs is no longer a part of the league, because Dinesh Chandimal has come in his place in the team. But in this match both were seen playing.
Let us tell you, Bevan Jacobs had missed the team’s last match against Peshawar Zalmi, but he was back in the playing eleven against Lahore. Some fans speculated on social media that perhaps Dinesh Chandimal has replaced Tom Curran, who was not in the team due to illness. But at the time of the toss, captain Saud Shakeel made it clear that Tom Curran is present in Karachi with the team and is a part of the squad. In such a situation, the biggest question now is how both the players came to play together. However, till now there has been no clarification on this from the Pakistan Cricket Board or the team, which has sparked a debate on social media and the board is being made fun of.
Quetta Gladiators won the match
