Bus catches fire in Hyderabad, driver’s quick action saves all passengers

Hyderabad: A private travel bus went up in flames near pillar number 734 in the KPHB Colony area of Hyderabad’s Kukatpally on Thursday. Fortunately, all passengers escaped without any injuries.

According to initial reports, the driver noticed smoke billowing from the engine while the bus was moving. Acting swiftly, he pulled over and evacuated all passengers, preventing what could have turned into a serious accident.

Locals alerted the fire department officials who rushed to the scene. Fire tenders were deployed promptly and managed to douse the flames before they could spread further.

Preliminary findings suggest that the blaze may have been triggered by a short circuit in the vehicle. The bus, operated by Sri Durga Travels, was travelling from Hyderabad to Palakollu when the incident occurred near Tabla Restaurant.

There were around 15–18 passengers on board at the time. Fortunately, no injuries were reported and all passengers managed to escape safely. They were also able to retrieve their luggage before the fire intensified.

The incident briefly disrupted traffic in the busy Kukatpally stretch before normalcy was restored.

Authorities are expected to conduct further checks to ascertain the exact cause of the fire.
