Home Minister Amit Shah laid the foundation stone of the ₹700 crore Amul Dairy Plant in Bengal. This will be Amul’s biggest curd plant in Howrah, which will provide employment to 1000 people. New ice cream plants will also be set up in the state.
Kolkata: Union Home Minister Amit Shah has laid the foundation stone of Rs 700 crore ‘Amul’ dairy plant in West Bengal. On this occasion, he said that the process of bringing investment from Gujarat to Bengal will continue. Shah also said that this plant to be built in Bengal will be Amul’s biggest curd manufacturing plant. Taking a dig at the Trinamool Congress, Amit Shah said, “Their attitude was anti-Gujarat. They did not want anything from Gujarat to come to Bengal. But now the people of Bengal have voted BJP to power. Now people are seeing how investment is coming to Bengal from Gujarat.” He said that this plant to be built in Howrah will benefit the small milk farmers of the state.
Amit Shah also announced that apart from the new plant in Howrah, Amul will also set up a new ice cream plant in Bengal. Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, who was present at the event, also said that land is ready for Amul’s ice cream plants in Bengal. He announced that Amul will be given 15 acres of land each in the northern and southern areas of the state. Gujarat company Amul is building this new plant in Sankrail Food Park, Howrah. When this plant becomes fully functional, 30 lakh liters of milk and 10 lakh liters of curd will be produced here every day. This will also provide direct employment to about one thousand people.
