In this direction, major action has been initiated against 203 contractors associated with 24 factories violating labor laws in Gautam Buddha Nagar. These include the process of license revocation, money recovery and blacklisting.
Action against 203 contractors and cancellation of license
According to Additional Labor Commissioner Gautam Budh Nagar Rakesh Dwivedi, the role of some contractors has been found suspicious in the sabotage that took place during the recent labor movements. In such a situation, licenses of 203 contractors are being canceled and strict action is being taken against them.
Penalty notice of Rs 1.16 crore issued
Contractors who did not follow labor laws and deprived workers of their rights have been issued penalty notices of Rs 1 crore 16 lakh 5 thousand 67. Instructions have been given to pay this amount directly to the workers.
Strict action will continue in future also
The Labor Department has clarified that other guilty contractors are being identified. The government has a clear message that any negligence with the rights of workers will not be tolerated.
Announcement of 21% salary increase (effective from 1 April 2026)
The salaries of workers of 74 employments in Gautam Buddha Nagar and Ghaziabad have been increased by 21 percent. This decision has been taken after the recommendation of a high level committee. The new pay rates will be applicable from 1st April 2026 and will be paid between 7th and 10th of May.
No deduction except EPF and ESI
The government has clarified that only EPF and ESI can be deducted from the salaries of workers. Apart from this, any deduction will be considered illegal and action will be taken against the culprits.
Full rights to overtime, bonus and gratuity
The Labor Department has directed that workers should be paid overtime at double the rate. Also, all statutory benefits like bonus and gratuity will be ensured.
Strict action will be taken on delay in salary
If workers do not receive salaries on time or are underpaid, the contractors as well as their main employers will be held responsible and legal action will be taken against them.
