Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav shared a poem invoking “Inquilab” (revolution) on social media after Lok Sabha MP Dimple Yadav and several SP MPs were detained by police during a march from Parliament to Jantar Mantar on Monday.
According to the Samajwadi Party, Dimple Yadav and other MPs were stopped and detained while marching in support of protesters near Parliament. The development comes amid heightened political protests in the national capital during the Monsoon Session of Parliament.
Sharing a post on X, the party wrote: “The detention of Lok Sabha MP Mrs. Dimple Yadav Ji, who was raising the voice of students in Delhi, and other SP MPs by the police, along with the lathi charge on students, is highly condemnable and undemocratic.”
Soon after, Akhilesh Yadav posted a poem that read, “When tears of despair turn into an ocean, ‘Revolution’ then arrives!!! When someone, on their strength, raises their head and struts proudly ‘Revolution’ then arrives!”
Multi-Tiered Security Inside Parliament As Protesters Approach
A multi-tiered security lockdown has been put in place inside the premises of the parliament as protesters approach Parliament. Water cannons and Quick Reaction Teams have been put on standby. Protesters clashed with security personnel and were lathicharged as they tried to charge towards barricades. Some of them were detained. Amongst the detainees was also Samajwadi Party leader Dimple Yadav, wife of Akhilesh Yadav.
Climate activist Sonam Wangchuk has said he will end his hunger strike today if the government accepts accountability for failures in the education system or MPs assure him they will raise the issue of paper leaks in Parliament.
Prohibitory orders under Section 163 BNSS (formerly Section 144 CrPC) is currently in effect in the New Delhi district.
The development comes as protests continue in central Delhi over the CJP’s demands regarding the alleged NEET irregularities.
