On Thursday morning, 47-year-old Democratic Party leader Justin Fairfax and his 49-year-old wife Dr. The body of Serena Fairfax was found. Fairfax County Police Chief Kevin Davis told the media that Justin was deeply depressed due to the divorce. Last year, his wife Serena, a dentist, had filed for divorce following allegations of sexual abuse.
According to the police, on Thursday morning Justin first shot his wife in the basement. After this he went to an upstairs bedroom and committed suicide by shooting himself. His son heard the sound of gunshots and immediately called the emergency number and informed the police.
Justin Fairfax and Serena met while studying at Duke University. Both of them got married in 2006 and have two children. Despite their separation, their teenage children were living with them.
Justin’s political career was full of promises. He was elected Lieutenant Governor of Virginia in 2017. Two years later, when then Democratic Governor Ralph Northam came under pressure to resign over an old racist photo, Justin was considered almost certain to become governor. If Northam were to resign, Justin would become Virginia’s second black governor.
But then two women came forward and made serious allegations of sexual exploitation against Justin. These allegations put brakes on his political future. However, Justin said that these relationships were consensual and were before marriage. In 2021, he tried to contest the election for governor, but lost in the Democratic Party primary.
Meanwhile, Serena filed for divorce in the court. She told the court that she and her husband have been living separately for almost two years and now want a divorce. Serena also said that Justin had started drinking too much alcohol.
