New Delhi: It was expected that Chennai Super Kings (CSK) veteran MS Dhoni will finally join the team for the next Indian Premier League 2026 clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) but the veteran player’s return has been delayed.
After recovery from his knee spasm that kept him away for the first three weeks of the cash-rich league, news was rife that Dhoni will be part of CSK’s squad for their next IPL clash against SRH on Saturday but now it had been reported by Cricbuzz that the former India captain’s return has been delayed.
Not for the April 18 match against Sunrisers, Dhoni would be available from April 23 for the clash against Mumbai Indians. The CSK fans would have to wait more before they think of cheering up for their favourite star from the stands. Though the former Super Kings skipper has resumed light batting in the nets but he does not seem to be fit for participation in next two days.

With pacer Khaleel Ahmed also getting ruled out of the remainder of the season due to an injury, Dhoni’s absence comes as a big blow. CSK are currently placed on the eighth spot with two wins and three losses in as many as five matches and from here, it will be a task for them tom elevate their performance and position.
