New Delhi: A shocking incident has come to light from Bengaluru where a 42-year-old man allegedly pushed his paralysed mother to death from the terrace of their residential building, according to a TOI report. The man has been arrested.
The incident took place on Wednesday afternoon in the 3rd Stage of BEML Layout in RR Nagar. Police have taken the accused Venkatesh C, alias Dasharath, into custody on suspicion of murdering his 75-year-old mother, Savitramma C.
What he said in his confession
The police interrogated Venkatesh, who reportedly admitted to committing the crime. He told investigators that he could no longer bear to see his mother suffer due to the paralysis. Venkatesh claimed his mother’s condition had not improved even though he had taken prolonged care and that the situation had left him under intense emotional stress and strain.
Venkatesh, who claims to be a private company staff, told police that he found it tough to look after his mother and fund her treatment. “My father died around 10 years back and since then, I was looking after my mother. Around five years back, she suffered a stroke and was paralysed. Since she was bedridden, I had to leave my job to care for her. Also, there were no signs of her recovering. Each day, life became miserable for me,” Venkatesh told TOI.
Police said the man had even resigned from his job earlier to take care of his mother full-time. However, the burden of caregiving, and the absence of any recovery, reportedly drove Venkatesh to take the extreme step. Investigators are now probing his mental and emotional condition at the time of the incident.
What the investigating officer said
An investigating officer was quoted by TOI as saying: “He is married, and his wife works as a helper in a clinic and Venkatesh works as an assistant in a showroom. His wife was away at work when the incident happened.”
Residents alerted authorities about the incident, after which police swung into action. The cops recovered the woman’s body, and arrested Venkatesh. Police have registered a case of murder. Further probe into the matter is being carried out to understand how the incident happened and if there was any other angle to it.
