Salman Khan Upcoming Movie Maatrubhumi stuck in limbo! Know why the release date is not coming?

The crisis seems to be deepening over the release of Salman Khan’s film ‘Mathrubhoomi’. From censor certification to changes in the story, the film is stuck due to many reasons. The release date of this film which turned from war drama to family drama is now completely stuck in limbo.

The release of ‘Mathrubhoomi: May War Rest in Peace’ is currently stuck in limbo. According to reports, the film has not yet been submitted to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) for certification. The makers are currently brainstorming the next steps.

Bollywood Hungama reports quoting sources, “After making the necessary changes at this stage, the team is trying to understand what the next steps will be for a smooth release. No one—the Defense Ministry, the Indian Army or the CBFC—has seen the film yet.” That means the film has not even reached the initial approval process.

Initially ‘Mathrubhoomi’ was said to be based on the Galwan Valley clash of 2020. But controversy arose after the teaser release in December 2025. China’s state media Global Times accused the film of “distorting facts”.

According to reports, in view of India-China relations, it was advised to remove direct mention of China and Galwan from the film. After this, the name of the film was changed to ‘Mathrubhoomi’, which clearly shows that the makers changed both its positioning and story.

Director Apoorva Lakhia did not completely rewrite the film, but added some new parts. According to reports, “The film has not been completely changed. Family sequences and the love story of supporting characters have been added to the Mumbai schedule. Now the focus of the film is more on relationships and emotions.”

Although some war scenes are still present in the film, but after removing the mention of China and Galwan, the biggest question before the makers is what will be the real conflict. Until this is cleared and the film is approved, it is difficult to decide its release date.
