Amazing story of Saqib Hussain
Robin told in a special conversation with TV9 Hindi that when Bihar Cricket League started, there was a coach Ashok Kumar in it, who demanded a player. Robin told, ‘BCL i.e. Bihar Cricket League started in Bihar. There was a coach there Ashok Kumar. He said to me, Robin, give me a boy. I told him, ‘Brother, let me tell you the name of a boy. He started saying, 14-15 state players have played among you and you are telling me the name of a boy who has not even played district? I said, brother, have faith. If he doesn’t do well, I won’t step on the field. That innocent person, if you have so much confidence then send it.
Why did Saqib Hussain lie for Rs 500?
Robin further said, ‘I called Saqib and said, son, tomorrow you have to go to play BCL. He told me, Sir, we will not be able to go. We have to go to bring sister. Whereas the truth was that he had to go to play a tennis ball match, for which he was going to get Rs 500. I said, drama will not work. Go there. However, the second reason was that he did not even have the money to go from Gopalganj to Patna. There was a friend named Prince, he dropped him to Patna on a bike. Then I paid to go to the stadium. He didn’t even have shoes, so there was a boy named Shabbir in the team. I told him, son, share the shoes. Then there is a Chhabra Sports shop in Patna, I told him to buy shoes from there. Seeing Shakib’s performance in BCL, the whole team understood that the boy has found a diamond. After this, coach Ashok Kumar called me and said what a wonderful boy he has given. BCL team coach Ashok Kumar called me and said, ‘Wow man, you have given a good boy.’
