Bengaluru heat spikes, temperature likely to cross 37°C today; hotter days ahead, says IMD

New Delhi: The summer is settling in Bengaluru with the city experiencing intense heat for the past few days. Maximum temperature crossed 36°C in several parts of the city on Tuesday — one of the hottest day this year.

While, the main city area reported lower temperature, weather stations at airport and HAL recorded temperatures above 36°C. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said the temperatures are already nearly 3°C above normal in some places. The weather agency has also predicted hotter days for the city in the coming days with no relief likely.

Weather forecast for today

IMD has predicted the maximum temperature for Wednesday to be at 37°C while the minimum temperature is likely to be at 24°C. It has also predicted partly cloudy sky.

The heat is likely to built up throughout the day with some cloud formation likely at the evening. Warm and dry weather will likely persist for some more days as rain is not expected in the coming days.

Prediction for other parts of Karnataka

Heat is expected to rise in other parts of Karnataka too with prediction ranging from hot and humid weather to heatwave-like conditions in several parts of the state. While coastal regions may experience hot and humid weather, North Interior Karnataka is predicted to witness heatwave-like conditions in the coming days. Maximum temperature is expected to remain above normal in many regions of Karnataka.

Meanwhile, the IMD’s early outlook for the 2026 southwest monsoon is not a good news for the state. IMD has predicted a below normal rainfall season — 92 per cent average — due to possible El Niño conditions.

A weaker monsoon could affect agriculture, especially crops that depend heavily on rainfall.
