4 killed, 15 injured after blast rocks power plant in Chhattisgarh; rescue operation underway

New Delhi: A massive explosion erupted at a power plant in Sakti district, Chhattisgarh, resulting in four workers losing their lives and 15 others sustaining injuries on Tuesday, April 14. Several workers were also feared trapped at the site, police confirmed.

PTI quoted that the preliminary information has revealed that the incident took place in Singhitarai village in the afternoon after a blast occurred in a boiler tube at the Vedanta Limited power plant, a senior police officer confirmed.

“Four workers have died, and 15 others sustained injuries,” said Prafull Thakur, Superintendent of Police, Sakti district.

After the blast, local administration and rescue teams rushed to the scene and launched rescue operations, where the injured were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
