A man posing as a classmate allegedly blackmailed a Bengaluru teacher using a fake cancer story. He gained her trust online, extorted money and a video, and threatened her. With friends’ help, she trapped him and handed him to police.
In a deeply disturbing and bizarre case reported from the Electronic City area, a man has been accused of cheating, blackmailing and sexually harassing a woman teacher after gaining her trust through an online conversation. The accused allegedly manipulated the victim emotionally by posing as her former classmate and later as a cancer patient, before exploiting her vulnerability. The incident has raised serious concerns about online safety and the misuse of digital platforms for fraud and harassment.
Accused Gained Trust Through Fake Identity
According to the complaint, about a year ago, the accused, identified as Arshad from Puttaparthi, contacted the teacher on WhatsApp using an unknown number. He introduced himself as her “old classmate” and began interacting with her in a friendly manner. Over time, he gained her trust, and the teacher continued communicating with him, believing his claims.
Used Illness To Gain Sympathy And Money
After establishing contact, the accused allegedly claimed that he was suffering from cancer in order to gain her sympathy. Using this excuse, he reportedly sought financial help from the teacher on multiple occasions. As their conversations continued, he is said to have devised a plan to further exploit her trust.
Exploitation Under Pretext Of ‘Last Wish’
The accused later told the teacher that he was a cancer patient and requested her to fulfil his “last wish” by engaging in a physical relationship. When she refused, he allegedly pressured her to send a nude video instead. Believing his story and feeling sympathetic, the teacher eventually shared the video.
Blackmail And Threats Follow
After obtaining the video, the accused allegedly began blackmailing the teacher. He threatened to circulate the video on social media if she did not provide him with money and agree to his demands for a physical relationship. The continued harassment caused significant distress to the victim.
Accused Trapped And Handed Over To Police
Unable to endure the situation, the teacher confided in her friends, who helped her plan to trap the accused. She contacted him and convinced him to travel to Bengaluru, promising to comply with his demands.
As planned, the accused travelled from Puttaparthi in Andhra Pradesh to Bengaluru. Upon arrival, the teacher and her friends confronted him and handed him over to the police.
Suicide Attempt After Confrontation
According to reports, the accused pleaded with the teacher not to file a complaint. When she refused, he allegedly attempted to harm himself using a razor blade, injuring his hand and private parts. The police intervened promptly and shifted him to a hospital, where he was treated and declared out of danger.
Police Investigation Underway
A case has been registered against the accused, and the Electronic City police have launched an investigation. Authorities have also urged the public to remain cautious while interacting with unknown individuals online, as this case highlights the potential dangers of online fraud and emotional manipulation.
