Shikha achieved the record under the category “Longest duration by an infant maintaining assisted upright balance on a parent’s palm.” During the demonstration, the baby reportedly balanced upright on her father Yash Veeragoni’s palm for 2 minutes and 43 seconds.

The moment was captured on video and has since circulated widely across social media platforms. In the clip, the infant appears calm and cheerful while balancing on her father’s hand and looking into his eyes. The feat earned her a place in the Guinness Book of World Records.

A TV9 Telugu report says that Shikha has also been listed in four other major record registries. These include the Limca Book of Records, Asia Book of Records, India Book of Records and Telugu Book of Records, bringing the total number of recognitions to five.

Who is Sonia Akula?

Shikha’s mother, Sonia Akula, is a Telugu film actor and social activist who gained nationwide recognition after appearing as a contestant on Bigg Boss Telugu Season 8 in 2024. Before entering reality television, she built a career in cinema and activism. Sonia made her acting debut in Ram Gopal Varma’s critically discussed film George Reddy (2019), where she played the protagonist’s sister.

She later appeared in projects such as Coronavirus (2020) and Aasha Encounter (2022). Beyond acting, she is also known for her advocacy work. In 2017, she founded AASA (Action Aid for Societal Advancement), an NGO focused on community development, rural education and support for vulnerable women and children.

Sonia married entrepreneur Yash Veeragoni in December 2024, and their daughter Shikha has already become an internet sensation barely months after her birth.
