The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) on Monday claimed that the central government has approached them for talks for the first time. According to party leaders, the initiative for talks was taken by the government ahead of the proposed ‘Chalo Sansad’ march to Parliament. This claim of CJP has come at a time when there was huge uproar during the demonstration at Jantar Mantar. There was a clash between the protesters and the police. The protesters accused the police of lathi charge, while the police denied these allegations.

There is no official confirmation from the government yet
CJP claimed that the government has approached him to start talks. However, this claim has not yet been officially confirmed by the Central Government. If this claim turns out to be true, it would be the first formal contact from the government during the ongoing hunger strike led by Sonam Wangchuk.
‘We are ready for talks’: Saurav Das
Saurav Das had earlier also said that his party is ready to talk to the government. According to news agency ANI, he said, “Even though the government has come late, we have said with an open heart that we are ready for talks. Now the government has to take the decision. Till now no clear statement has been made from their side.”
Movement intensified after Sonam Wangchuk’s fast
Sonam Wangchuk has been on hunger strike since last month. On Saturday, July 18, the police took him to Safdarjung Hospital for treatment. After this, the protests intensified under the leadership of CJP. Party founder Abhijit Dipke also started an indefinite fast in support.
Situation still not clear on ‘Chalo Sansad’ march
CJP had announced to take out ‘Chalo Sansad’ march at 9 am on Monday. However, it is not clear whether permission has been received from the administration for this march or not. Meanwhile, information about the gathering of about 10,000 supporters around Jantar Mantar came to light.
Delhi Police did not give permission for the march
On Sunday, Delhi Police had imposed Section 163 of BNSS in some areas of New Delhi. Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Sachin Sharma had said that neither permission has been sought nor permission has been given for any such protest march or procession. However, on Monday morning, DCP Sachin Sharma was also seen talking to CJP spokesperson Saurav Das at Jantar Mantar. According to the information, police officials expressed concern about law and order, on which CJP leaders assured that their march will be completely peaceful.
