A girl’s video on Bengaluru’s tough rental market went viral. Found a 1BHK after searching for a month, but after asking for 1.5 hours to take a decision, the flat was given to someone else.
People living in Bengaluru are well aware of the competitive rental market in the city. Recently, a girl from Bengaluru shared her experience describing this problem, which has now gone viral. This girl with Instagram handle named @namma_rants told in a video how after a month of hard work, the fully-furnished 1BHK flat she liked was gone from her hands in a few hours. In the video she says, “Hi friends, I have recently started my life in Bengaluru and one thing I have realized is that losing a good home hurts more than losing a person.”
She further explained how she had been searching for the right house for so long. “No kidding, after searching for a fully-furnished 1BHK for almost a month, today I finally found something I liked. I was compromising on many things, but the landlord was not willing to compromise on the rent.”
According to the girl, she had accepted many of the landlord’s conditions, but had just asked for some time before finalizing the deal. He had asked for about one and a half hour’s time to take the final decision before giving the deposit. But when he called back, the house had been rented out to someone else. Recalling the conversation with the landlord, he said, “Whatever compromise had to be made, I had to do. But I had only asked for one and a half hour’s time before finalizing the house.”
Describing what happened next, she says, “I called ‘Anna’ (brother) after an hour and a half and said, ‘Bhaiya, I am ready to give the deposit’ because I needed a roof over my head, I needed somewhere to live, I needed a house. And then Anna said, ‘No, the house is gone.’ I was surprised, ‘What?’ I saw it just an hour and a half ago!’ But he said, ‘No, no, no, he is gone.’ Someone else paid the deposit, so it was gone.’”
