New Delhi: Australian fast bowler Brett Lee paid an emotional tribute to iconic singer Asha Bhosle after her passing on April 12. He remembered the legendary singer for her kindness and voice. Lee recalled his experience of working with the iconic singer and said that her legacy will live on for generations.
Bhosle passed away at the age of 92 in Mumbai, leaving behind a huge legacy that spans over 12,000 songs across genres and languages. In a heartfelt tribute on his Instagram account, the Australian pacer said that he had the pleasure of writing and recording a song called ‘You’re the One for Me’ with her in 2006.
“It’s something I’ll always be incredibly grateful for. What stayed with me most wasn’t just her extraordinary talent, but how kind and humble she was. For someone who had achieved so much in her life, she carried herself with such warmth and generosity,” Lee wrote on Instagram.
“My thoughts are with her family and friends at this time. I feel very fortunate to have shared even a small moment with someone so special…There’s no doubt her legacy will live on for generations to come,” he added.
Bhosle was one of the most popular voices of Hindi cinema’s golden era, along with legendary singers like Mohammad Rafi, Kishore Kumar and Lata Mangeshkar.

Lee and Bhosle collaborated on the song ‘You’re the One for Me’ in 2007, which was a rare crossover between cricket and music. They came together during the ICC Champions Trophy, when Lee was invited to be part of a music project. The song became a big hit, showcasing Bhosle’s effortless versatility.
A few months after the recording, they met again at the Sydney Opera House, and the legendary singer gifted him a signed album, a gesture that reflected the warmth and generosity he spoke about in his tribute.
