In the matter of Filmfare Awards, Asha Bhosle outweighs her elder sister Lata Mangeshkar. Asha received the Best Playback Singer award 7 times. These include ‘Garibo Ki Suno’ (Dus Lakh, 1966), ‘Parde Mein Rehne Do’ (Shikar, 1968), ‘Piya Tu Ab To Aaja’ (Caravan, 1971), ‘Dum Maaro Dum’ (Hare Ram Hare Krishna, 1971), ‘Hone Lagi Hai Raat’ (Naina, 1973), ‘Chain Se Humko Kabhi’ (Pran Jaye Par Vachan Na Jaye, 1974), ‘Yeh Songs included are ‘Mera Dil’ (Don, 1978). Apart from these 7 songs, he was also given a Special Award for ‘Rangeela’ (1995) and Lifetime Achievement Award in 2001 by Filmfare. Lata Mangeshkar received the Filmfare Award for Best Playback Singer for 4 songs ‘Aaja Re Pardesi’ (Madhumati, 1959), ‘Kahin Deep Jale Kahin Dil’ (Bees Saal Baad, 1963), ‘Tumhi Mere Mandir, Tumhi Meri Pooja’ (Khandaan, 1966) and ‘Aap Mujhe Achhe Lagne Lage’ (Jeene Ki Raah, 1970). Apart from these songs, he received a special award for the song ‘Didi Tera Dewar Deewana’ from 1994’s ‘Hum Aapke Hain Koun’. In 1993, he was given the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award and in 2004, he was also given a golden trophy under the Special Award on 50 years of Filmfare.
