US President Donald Trump has warned China that if it supplies arms to Iran, a huge tariff of 50% will be imposed on Chinese goods. This threat came after an intelligence report.
Washington: Tension between America and Iran has increased further after the failure of peace talks in Islamabad. Now US President Donald Trump has simultaneously issued a strong warning to China and Iran. Trump has said that if China tries to supply arms to Iran, an additional tariff of 50% will be imposed on Chinese products.
This warning comes after an intelligence report came to light, which said that China is preparing to send weapons to Iran. All this is happening while a two-week temporary ceasefire is going on between the two sides. Trump clarified his stance in an interview with Fox News. “I don’t think China would do it, but if they did, they would face a 50% tariff. That would be a huge amount,” he said.
Interestingly, this strong statement of Trump has come just before his visit to China next month. CNN, quoting the US Intelligence Department, was the first to report that China is preparing to send new air defense systems to Iran. The news of this arms supply has come during the two-week temporary ceasefire that started last Wednesday.
Along with threatening China, Trump also offered to sell crude oil to it. Trump said that apart from oil from America, Venezuelan oil can also be given to China. Let us tell you that the Venezuelan administration is under American control after the US captured Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro at the beginning of this year. The failure of peace talks in Islamabad and now the news of an arms deal between China and Iran has again increased the risk of war in the region.
