King Mandhata asked, ‘If I have not committed any sin in this life, then why did this happen to me?’ Lord Vishnu said, ‘This is the result of your previous births. You observe fast on Varuthini Ekadashi of Vaishakh month. By doing this, all the sins of your previous births will be destroyed and you will also get your leg eaten by the bear.’
