New Delhi: Haryanvi singer Masoom Sharma is again surrounded by controversy as the Haryana State Commission for Women has issued a summons to Masoom over using abusive language and engaging in inappropriate conduct during a live event.
The incident occurred at the DAV College, Dehradun, when Masoom was performing at a student union cultural programme on Saturday, April 11. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami was also present at the venue.
What happened at the event?
It is alleged that Masoom used the derogatory language after the chief minister left the venue. The singer used foul language, making police personnel, college administration, and students uncomfortable.
Khanpur MLA Umesh Kumar joined the stage and tried to intervene in the matter, but the singer didn’t stop there. After the programme, Masoom issued an apology via a video, claiming he had been under mental stress due to harassment by an individual. The singer said he didn’t intend to hurt anyone’s sentiments and expressed regret.

The Haryana State Commission directed the singer to be present in person on April 18 at 11 am at its Panchkula office. Masoom had to submit an explanation about the incident.
Masoom has been involved in several controversies in recent times, as a woman accused him of assault and harassment in 2024, while next year, the Haryana government ordered him to remove some of his songs over allegations of promoting gun culture on YouTube.
The Uttarakhand Police launched a probe against Masoom as officials said the authenticity of the viral video is being verified, and appropriate legal action will be taken against him.
